# thumbnail and permalink

 * Heey everyone,
 * i have trouble with 2 things, I already went trough the forum but cant find a
   solution.
 * the first thing is that on the website [http://www.avtotaal.nl](http://www.avtotaal.nl/),
   I try to change pages into catagory’s in the main nav, so it can contain clickable
   items (posts). I want everypost in here to have thumbnails with it, but they 
   dont show up. in the functions.php everything seems to be in order. anyone know
   what i can do about this? this is the url: [http://www.avtotaal.nl/?cat=18](http://www.avtotaal.nl/?cat=18)
 * second question is, has you can see in the url above, the permalink doesnt look
   good. When I try to change it, the browser can find the page and i get an 404
   not found error.

 * The permalinks can be fixed under settings -> permalinks and then change it to
   a nicer output ( third one usually ).
 * If by thumbnails you mean ‘featured images’ you can set while editing a post;
   this should be supported by your theme or you should edit your theme including
   the WP function where it says to look for your [thumbs](http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/has_post_thumbnail).

 * Thx for your comment Bas, but with the permalinks thats the troubleshoot, when
   i change it under setting I get the 404 not found error.
 * Same has the thumbs, I dont use a theme caus its was transfered from a other 
   cms (dont know witch one) but after putting in the funtion.php, but i got the
   feeling im getting warm with the thumb so i keep treying thnk you

 * 404’s on changing permalink means that something is wrong with your .htaccess
   file ( or writing that file )
