It’s a long shot, but it would be great if there was a shortcode that showed tides and moon cycles, and where the town is in that cycle.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Adding moon phase (including illumination and where you are in the lunar cycle) is definitely possible.

Tides are also possible, but they usually require a separate marine/tide data source (often with an API key and sometimes a paid tier), and they’re most reliable for coastal locations.

I’ll keep this on the roadmap as a potential future enhancement.

Hi, thanks again for the suggestion — quick update:

I’ve now added Moon Phases in v1.9.5, including the current phase and where you are in the lunar cycle (plus illumination, depending on the widget/shortcode output).
Please update to v1.9.5, clear any caches, and refresh the page.

For tides: that’s the harder part. It typically requires a dedicated marine/tide provider (often API-key based, sometimes paid) and it needs accurate coastal station data to be reliable. I’m looking into options, but I can’t promise a timeline yet.

If you want, share which coastal town/spot you primarily need for the surf report, and I can use that as a reference point when evaluating tide data sources.

Thanks for the feedback — it helps prioritize what to build next.

    Hi there,

Thank you. I have updated the app. The area, Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, is on a new moon cycle, so it is difficult to currently assess the illumination https://www.timeanddate.com/moon/phases/@11280657. I will provide feedback in a week or so.

If Jeffreys Bay is not listed for tides, the closest city would be Port Elizabeth.
