 * I’m using the tinypng plugin to compress all of my images. @2x images created
by Retina 2x are not compressing. If I upload a compressed image without using
the tinypng plugin Retina 2x still creates uncompressed versions.

 * I have the same problem using the Optimus plugin. I’m guessing same root cause(
no image sizes created?) so adding comment instead of adding a new post.

 * For those issues of course you should ask the developers of those plugins. There
are other plugins that works with WP Retina 2x though such as EWWW Image Optimizer
and Smush.it. They are the two most famous ones. If Optimus of Tinypng wants
to optimize the @2x, it’s extremely easy but they should be aware of it 🙂

 * Where is Retina 2x saving the retina images though? Tinypng should be able to
optimize anything in the media library. Thanks

 * They are next to the normal files, but they are named with @2x. They are not
in the media library because they shouldn’t be there, they are “shadow” files
   for the real ones.
