# Toolbar Dropdown Missing

 * Today after no updates or anything, the drop down in my admin toolbar stopped
   dropping down.
    – The black bar at the top.
 * Before you could hover over New (with the + sign) and a drop down of new things
   you could add would appear, such as posts, pages, media etc.
 * This is no longer happening, there is no drop down.
    UNLESS, I log into my profile.
   If I access my profile via the Hi XXXX at the top right then the drop down works.
 * Other users have also confirmed this, though they experienced the loss of drop
   down before me.
 * This has been confirmed on pretty much all platforms and on all browsers, I even
   did a topic in the forum to try and get information to narrow it down, but it
   is very odd.

 * This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins,
   and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable
   them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
 * If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
   On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and
   change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, **without affecting normal
   visitors to your site**. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins
   and themes one at a time.

 * But is that likely when it was all ok yesterday and there have been no updates?
 * And that it affected some people a few weeks ago, some this week and only me 
   today?

 * No idea, but this is where you start figuring that out. There have also been 
   important updates in both Chrome and Firefox in that time.

 * So, I did the troubleshooter and all the plugins are fine.
    It is the theme.
 * I can’t really change that, so how do we work out why it did a sort of phased
   fail of the admin bar drop downs?

   determine what theme you’re using.
