Hello, how should this message be understood: ‘Total size of automatically loaded options: 1394.41 KB. To avoid performance issues, the size should be reduced.’ What can I do to reduce the total size?

    Dear @grword,

    Thank you for your message.

This message appears when you have many autoloaded options, which may lead to performance issues. To reduce this number, I recommend investigating the “Options” tab within the plugin.

You can filter your autoloaded options by selecting “autoload: yes” in the filter section and clicking the “Apply” button. From there, you can set autoload to “no” for any options that you believe do not need to be autoloaded. You should reduce the autoloaded options as much as possible. Once this is done, the notice will disappear.

Normally, a size under 800 KB should not trigger that message (this is the recommended WordPress autoload thereshold). In your case, 1394.41 KB should not cause a real performance issue, but it is still better to review the size and try to reduce it.

That said, while the plugin provides the filtering functionality, it is ultimately up to the user to perform a manual review to determine which options should be deleted or have their autoload status turned off.

If you still don’t know how to proceed, you can follow these steps:

    • Backup First: Before changing or altering anything in your database, always create a fresh backup. This way, you can quickly restore if something goes wrong.
    • Test in Staging: Perform these changes on a staging or development site so you can verify there are no unintended side effects.
    • Disable AutoloadFilter options by size and autoload = yes, and order them by size, then turn off autoload for the biggest ones. Test your site thoroughly. If everything works fine, you can consider changing them in your live site as well.

    Kind regards,
    Younes
