• Hi, I have a question,

My website is up for at least 1 month. I have submitted to most RSS directories, I have posted to other forums, commented to posts, I have my ping list running with many ping services, I got all of the recommended traffic plugins, submitted a sitemap to google and other search engines, some of my keywords get page 1, I make 3-4 posts per day, my website gets a grade 90+ in almost all web site graders…and still get no traffic!

Most of the traffic comes from stumble upon when I discover my articles. That’s it! Today I got only 3 visitors and that’s from stumble upon and friends from facebook.

    What am I doing wrong?

When I used to have a blogger account I would get about 20 visitors and revisitors each time I posted something from Day 1. Within a week I got 100 visitors per post from blogger. With my own domain and a hosted server it seems like no one reads the articles..

    Any thoughts? Thanks

  • The sandbox.

Possible spam signals such as site-wide links from two other sites.

Your site is about ‘personal development’ – search out other blog sites about similar topics and leave helpful and relevant comments on their blog posts (usually your name will link back to your own blog) – if your comments are thought provoking and compelling, readers will try to learn more about you (and your site) and this will be a good way of getting targeted readers who will have an interest in your subject.

I have research the sandbox theory, just as richarduk mentioned..I think I’m in the sandbox and the only way to get out is to create more and more backlinks and keep patient in time. Joe, your suggestion is actually the same, how to get out of the sandbox, so it is really helpful!

thank you guys for your help

There appears to be nothing you can do about the sandbox. If you’re a big, successful company launching a new site with lots of existing traffic diverted there e.g. you’re a mobile phone manufacturer advertising your new phone on TV and directing customers to a site then it appears you might escape it, on the grounds that a) Google is into brands as a denoter of ‘quality’ b) Google doesn’t want to look stupid and will follow the traffic.

If you’re just one man and his dog (or one woman and her dog) launching a site then G apparently needs to see evidence that you’re bona fida. Thus the sandbox.

Therefore avoid spam signals. That includes sudden, unexpected growth in backlinks; identical anchor text; sitewide links (possibly); known dodgy areas to get backlinks; being a spammy type and having a load of spam sites registered in your name or from the same IP (Google is a domain registrar) blah blah blah. There’s plenty of information out there (some of it credible :-))

One thought: pay money to get included in reputable directories. That used to include Yahoo – you’ll have to research who’s meant to be reputable nowadays.

Thank you richarduk, I’ll keep in mind of that.

I also deleted some links from amazon which I found they were not html validated..and also temporary deleted a few links from other sites from my blogroll to see what happens..

my traffic was never too high since it is a new blog, but by deleting the above links, visitors kept on coming and coming, from 3 visitors (as I mentioned here before), suddenly they became 55-60..back to normal I mean.
