# trailing slash redirection

 * I’ve been having problems with urls that have been deleted/changed.
 * If I enter the old url with the trailing slash, it gets redirected to the new
   one.
 * But if I enter the old url *without* the trailing slash, I get a 404 page.
 * I don’t understand why this is happening as my .htaccess file “demands” that 
   urls always have trailing slashes.
 * Now, as long as the url in question hasn’t been changed or deleted, that command
   works. But if there has been any alteration to the url AND the visitor enters
   the url without the trailing slash, it will *not* work.
 * Any suggestions on how I could fix that problem?
 * I’ve already contacted my server, and they said it’s a common problem with WordPress–
   but they haven’t provided any solutions thus far.
 * Any assistance would be much appreciated.
