 * I simply allowed popups on the website with the chat window, and at the same 
   time changed permissions on transcript directory and now it works. Not sure which
   part solved it, suspect write permissions 755

 * When I installed the plugin it was owned by root. When I changed that to the 
   correct owner all worked.
