Translate CPT labels

Translation is an issue of sorts that we don’t have a great solution for, due to the fact that all of our settings get stored as entered into options in the database. Works great for string values/labels for one language, kind of falters once we get to more than one.

That said, while not the most elegant solution ever, it is possible to provide customized values right before the registration of each post type. How comfortable, if at all, are you with WordPress’ hooks/filters system? Also just for some ahead of time questions, how many languages are you potentially dealing with?
