 * Im trying to translate the default “Make an Offer” button and the text inside
   the lightbox. I’ve played with some hooks but I just want to make sure there 
   isn’t another way.

 * Are you familiar with translating plugins via PO files? There is a default PO
   file included with the plugin you could use to do any translation you need.
 * Otherwise, yeah, there are hooks available to filter those values to read however
   you want.
