# Trashed posts have vanished?

 * Over the years I’ve trashed a few posts and I just went to find them but they
   aren’t there – my trash folder has nothing in, from what I can see. Do trashed
   items automatically get deleted?

 * With plain WP install Trash is not emptied automatically,
    unless you press a
   button or some plugin does that for you (Bulk WP optimization plugins can flush
   spam, trash, among other clean ups)

 * `define('EMPTY_TRASH_DAYS', 1 );`
 * You might have defined this constant in wp-config.php (1 is example number of
   days)
    there are no other settings with plain WP, without additional plugins 
   installed which may affect Trash

   could have gone.
