    They’re supposed to be on the same line. If they’re not on the same line for you, there’s some sort of negative interaction with your site’s theme.

    the theme I am using has a definition for label with

    display: block;

    this breaks the layout for collapsed-archives plugin. If you’d add a custom class for label with
    display: inline;

    it would work with different themes.
