Tricky product variation option

I’m trying to set up an option on a product that will change the price of a product depending upon whether the customer is affiliated to another organisation.

It’s a very simple yes/no question really – e.g. if you are member of one of the listed organisations then the price is X otherwise it’s Y.

Easy to set up – HOWEVER my client also wants to be able to record which organisation(s) the customer belongs to. And this can be more than one organisation.

So I need to somehow record A. If the customer is a member, and B which organisations, and save this info along with the order?

or

I ask the Membership question at the checkout – but this info will ONLY affect certain products and also I don’t think you can apply discounts at the checkout stage.

Ideal scenario is a list of checkboxes that the user can select and some rules that say if any of the boxes are ticked then it’s equivalent to membership equals yes, and the product variation kicks in.

I’d really appreciate any help or ideas?
