You can hide all items of the Admin bar. The settings switch between Front end and Back end Admin bar.
Use the section “Admin Bar Back end options” to hide items of the back end admin bar, in example for the WP group with the links and the logo of WP, this is the “Menu”, a Group with ID menu-toggle.

It doesn’t work, maybe I wasn’t clear enough.

Here is another example : I’ve managed to hide the “Comments” icon in the back-end menu bar (by switching the line with ID=comments in the section “Admin Bar Back end options”).
Yet, the very same “Comments” icon is displayed on the frontend menu bar (the top bar you can see when you visit the site).

Is right, you must select this item “comments” for front end and back end separately. If you select it only in the back end settings, then should it hide only in the admin area, in the back end, not on the front end view.

You have right, here was not easy to get all data right.
Now I had rewrite this function.
Please test this new version – https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/adminimize.zip
I have change a lot on the Admin Bar topics and also on Custom Post Type possibilities.
    Thanks for all your feedback.
