 * Hi there!
 * I have a question on unicode image referrals parsed into the 2019 template for
   WordPress. On the footnote I have described on the page in question, it refers
   to an external site for the unicode graphic at the end of the footnote: ⌊↩⌉
 * Is it possible to alter that somewhere in WordPress so it does not refer to an
   external .svg image file? Maybe something I can host?
 * Thanks for your help!
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Funicode-question%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * That file is not referenced in the Twenty Nineteen theme. It is an emoji SVG
   file and since it’s used in footnotes, you should look at whatever plugin you
   are using to provide the footnotes.

 * Thanks for your response and time, Joy.
 * I am not using a plugin to produce footnotes, I just placed the code for the
   symbol at the end of the footnote and it somehow defaulted towards that graphic.
   It’s a bit of a head scratcher.
 * Any other thoughts?

 * Oh, okay. As it is an emoji, WordPress substitutes it.
    There are two different
   things in WordPress: [Smileys](https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-smilies/)
   and [Emojis](https://wordpress.org/support/article/emoji/). There used to be
   an admin option to turn off Smileys, but that was removed. You can look for a
   plugin to turn off either one or both. Here are a few: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/keep-emoticons-as-text/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/keep-emoticons-as-text/)

 * Understood. Thanks so much for your time and expertise, Joy!
