University notes page

So i have a website from a university. It have a blog with news and that stuff.

I want to have a page where people can share “Notes” from classes, divided by subjects..

What do you recommend? Im thing of create a Blog categorie, named Notes, and then Under that Category, create sub categories. So in that page i will only show posts from “Notes” category.

Now, is there anyway to exclude this category from the blog page? Cause i dont want people to see the notes when they go for the “News” (blog) page.
