# Unknown error occured while uploading image

* Any ideas why my images don’t upload? They don’t exceed the limit and i tried
with png and jpeg but nothing worked, it just throws an Unknown error.

* Hi, Do the debug and see what it shows for you? I have exactly the same issue:

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON

* To do debug, go to settings – wise chat – Advanced – tick the debug,the go back
to your chat window, try to send an image, wait for the error, then type in chat
window ‘debug’ and press send. You will see your error message in a window bellow.
I have been breaking my head to get this sorted, no luck yet. Also, what theme
do you use? Regards

* I see that some users report this kind of error from time to time and it is very
difficult to find what is wrong. It is something with images processing on your
server. Could you share a link to your website? I will try to find what is wrong.

* Please install Exif extension for PHP. It is very likely that this error is caused
by missing Exif extension for PHP. The extension is used by Wise Chat to auto-
rotate images containing orientation details.
* I will fix this error in Wise Chat 2.4. In case of missing Exif extension the
images won’t be auto-rotated , but also there will be no errors like this.
