We are having issues with a site getting hammered with spam orders. They all have the status of failed or cancelled. The issue is they all come from unique names, emails, address and IP Address. so auto blocking rules don’t work.

We have the following measures in place:
    – Fraud Prevention For WooCommerce and EDD
    – CAPTCHA 4WP
    – reCAPTCHA for WooCommerce
    – WP Armour Extended – Honeypot Anti Spam

Each batch of spam orders can be hundreds or thousands. Each batch does seems to use different addresses but all have the same ZIP CODE per batch. Not sure if there is a way to set a rule for “if more than 2 orders fail with same zip code then block that zip code for 24 hours)

Or does anyone else have any other smart ideas? Haven’t seen anything as sophisticated or persistent as this before!

  • Hi @dvelop-it,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing those details — that does sound like a frustrating situation, especially with the volume and persistence of the spam orders.

Since you already have several anti-spam tools in place, and the spam is still getting through with varied data, this may go beyond what WooCommerce core can handle out of the box.

While there isn’t a built-in feature to auto-block by ZIP code based on failed order attempts, this could be achieved through custom development. You might consider working with a developer to create a custom rule or hook into the woocommerce_checkout_process or woocommerce_after_checkout_validation actions to track and temporarily block checkout attempts from ZIP codes that repeatedly fail.

Another option is to share this in the WooCommerce Community Slack or Advanced WordPress Facebook Group where many developers and store owners brainstorm and share creative solutions.
