 * I ran the Storefront update without backing up the files and it crashed, not
   before deleting all files and folders in the Storefront theme folder. I still
   have the database though.
 * There’s nothing in the recycle bin, nothing found when using Windows File Recovery,
   no restore points, etc. It’s as if it never existed.
 * Is there any hope to recover the files/folders without a backup?

 * Hi there,
 * Was this an update on a local installation of WordPress? If so, the files probably
   weren’t placed in the trash.
 * If there weren’t any modifications to the theme files, you can download a fresh
   copy of it from here and install it.

 * The best way to handle modifications to a theme is to use a child theme. That
   way when it comes time to update the original theme, your changes aren’t lost.
 * This post from Smashing Magazine can show you the ins and outs of making a child
   theme.
