# Update Failed: -1 plugin error

 * Hi all, our wordpress site is managed by Godaddy. having issues trying to update
   any of the plugins on our site. I get thrown this error: Update Failed: -1 and
   I cant figure out how to fix it for the life of me. Can anyone help? I am not
   very technical so need very detailed steps.

 * This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins,
   and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable
   them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
 * If that doesn’t work, I recommend contacting GoDaddy’s support, since they are
   fully managing the environment that WordPress is running under.

 * but once you switch the theme the site looks crazy… is there any way to avoid
   this?

 * Use the [health-check](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/) plugin’s 
   troubleshooting mode. Then such changes only appear to you. For everyone else
   the site looks normal. Use the admin bar troubleshooting item to restore your
   theme and plugins one at a time. Don’t forget to remove troubleshooting mode 
   when you are done 😉

 * I am unable to download new plugins and do not have the health-check plugin. 
   any other ideas so I can fix this?
