# Update Gone Wrong

 * Hello,
 * Just clicked the update to WordPress 4.7 button earlier today, but instead of
   updating as it usually does, it went to a white page and this url:
 * [http://www.smlcorp.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F](http://www.smlcorp.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F)
 * I can’t log in to the site (goes to same url) or go to any other pages in admin(
   goes to same url). I’m not sure what to do since I can’t find anything on the
   subject and I’m not sure if my site has any backups.
 * Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 * It sounds like this could have been a failed update, which unfortunately may 
   have been caused by a number of issues.
 * Do you have FTP access to your website to do a [manual upgrade](https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)?

 * Thanks Alex and t-p, I don’t have FTP access but my site host (who setup WordPress
   in the first place for us) should be able to. I’ll get in touch with them and
   hope this resolves it.

 * This is a problem that I and loads of people have. Install your previous backup
   and do not upgrade to 4.7 again – instead wait for wordpress to issue a working
   version.
