 * I want to update a bunch of old posts with podcasts added to them. I want to
do a new category system, so I have to go through a lot of old posts. The problem
however is, that when I update an old post the podcast-feed also updates. Is
there a way to avoid this? I don’t want all that old posts showing up as new
ones for my listeners and downloading through their podcasts-apps.
 * I send the podpress-feed through Feedburner to iTunes.
 * Thanks 🙂

 * Yes if you update a post then the date of the last modification changes. But
WordPress orders the posts in the feeds by the publishing date and not by the
date of the last modification. It also puts the publishing date into the `<pubdate
   >` element of each `<item>` and does not change that after a modification of
   a post.
 * Where did you observe the different behaviour? In the Feedburner version of your
   podcast feed? Or iTunes?
 * Do you use any other plugin which might change the default behaviour?

 * I tried it last night again. I updated an old post with a new categorie, and
nothing happened. Then I updated three other posts with new categories and thought
things where allright. But just a moment later all four posts appeared on the
podcastfeed because their date was set to last night.
 * So in my podcast app all four old post where at the top. In the feed, as well
as the feed podpress generates, as op feedburner, the posts that where updated
have a date from last night.

 * I think it uses the updated tag?

 * I suppose that your podcast is the _Gamebites >> De gamepodcast in snackformaat._
   podcast, right?
 * I looked into the XML code of the feed of this blog and I could see that some
of the posts have a `<pubdate>` of the 2nd November although the episode title
suggests that they older and that the order of the episodes should be different.

iTunes and probably all other podcast clients take this `<pubdate>` information
to recognise new episodes and to order the episode default.
 * I have also checked the default behaviour of WP + podPress again and I’m absolutely
sure that the default behaviour is to leave the `<pubdate>` as it as and to change
only post content and informations like the categories.
    That is why I think
that Feedburner probably modifies this meta tag when it discovers updates of
the content or other meta information like a new category. I’m no Feedburner
expert but maybe the features like the PingShot are responsible for this behaviour.
But I’m not sure about this particular feature of Feedburner.
