Update priority order

    I have an old website that is not updated from 5 years.

    What should I have to first update?

    PHP, then wordpres version, then theme, then plugins

    or

    theme, plugins, wordress, php version

    or

    …….

    What is the right order?

    The first thing to do, before you do any of the above, is take a backup of your site. Most crucially, ensure that you also have a backup of the database.

    As to the order of the other things I don’t think it matters too much, but I would probably go with your first order: PHP, WordPress, Theme, Plugins.
