 * Same here. This update kills the WordPress installation!
    Not even a standard
   restore in my web host Direct Admin panel managed to fix this. Had to manually
   remove both the database and all files/folders and then do a restore from scratch!
   So a tip to all in same situation (considered that you have a full backup of
   database and files/folders). – Remove Database completely. – Remove all files/
   folders from WP installation directory. – Restore your previous backup of database
   and files/folders.
 * Hope the developers fix asap. This is really bad, to not check the code thoroughly
   before distributing the update!

 * Same problem for me – plugin stalls on update.
 * To remedy for others having the same problem – ftp to the server and delete the
   maintenance file in the base wordpress directory which will stop the update and
   bring the site back up for you.

 * Update:
    WP admin is back again. Obviously updating process stopps autimatically
   after one hour or so. So I would recommend to do nothing but to wait a while.
   In my case this is solving the problem.
 * But the developers should offer a new update version immediately.

 * Hi,
    We are very sorry about that issue. If your website is unavailable, the
   solution is to remove the .maintenance file on the root of your website installation,
   you can follow that tutorial : [https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-stuck-in-maintenance-mode/](https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-stuck-in-maintenance-mode/)
 * Also, we have just pushed an update which fix the issue.
