# Update problem

 * Hello. My Rankmath plugin cannot be updated to the new version because of this:“
   There is a new version of Rank Math SEO available, but it does not work with 
   your version of PHP.”
 * How can I fix it?

 * Switch to another PHP Version on your server, I guess you are using an old one.
   But be careful that everything still works and is compatible in the end.

 * Thank you for contacting the support.
 * Please update your PHP version to 7.4 or higher to update the plugin. The PHP
   development team no longer manages the older PHP versions – they’ve stopped working
   on security fixes and performance tweaks.
 * Even WordPress themselves recommends that you use PHP 7.4 at least. [https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/](https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/)
