    Can pods be updated by going to the plugins folder, deleting the previous version and unzipping the new version? Are there any caveats at all to doing this?

    It’s mostly the same thing. Sometimes plugins have update methods attached to activation hooks, so deactivate, trash or rename, replace, activate would be the most thorough.
