    Hi,

I hope you can help with me with this. I use wordpress for my website and am currently getting a 500 error for it. I just updated the plugins on my site, and after updating, realised that when I tried to edit a page or post it was blank. I tried deactivating the plugins, then reactivating them but nothing changed, and now I’m getting a 500 error with no website and the message:

http://www.essexmums.com is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500

    please help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

The site does load fine on my computer

Update: site is back but pages are still blank when I try to edit them, posts too.

Steve Stern, thank you. I’ve discovered most of the site seems to be down and my head is swimming. I just can’t focus on the info you have given and what I actually need to do to get into the debug mode

Okay, I went to the Twenty Seventeen theme and I was able to edit, so I guess that means it’s my theme. Bah! My whole site is based on that theme!

Is there a newer version of your theme available?

It turned out to be a problem with a plugin after all, even though I had deactivated them all. Bit of a nightmare but got there in the end. Thanks for your help!
