• Hi there, I created a website for a client (www.floorgard.com.au) and I’ve just spent over 2 hours upgrading it manually through FTP to the new version and now its defaulted back to its theme and I have lost all the colours and pictures I used.

It was woking straight after the upgrade then I noticed the contact form plugins weren’t working so I deleted them.

Please, please help, I did a back up before I did it.

    Thanks

  • When you say you manually updated it, do you mean you manually updated WP?
If so, why didn’t you do the automatic upgrade?
    what do you mean

now its defaulted back to its theme

what theme? the wordpress default theme?
when you did the ypgrade, did you replace the wp-content folder?

Hi, I had to upgrade manually via FTP because when I went to add a pic to the WP site it said it was an old version and wouldn’t let me me just click and auto upgrade (see http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Upgrading_WordPress), I had to upload all the WP files of the new version then, do step 1 to 3. I disabled plugins then enabled them afterwards, I didn’t overwrite the content folder just put in the new files like it said. I don’t know what the theme is its just grey and white now, maybe this is the WP default I just don’t know.

    Let’s recap
    1) you created a website
    2) you upgraded WP manually
    3) it was working
    4) you deleted a plugin and it stopped working

did you try putting the plugin back in?

were you using a cstom menu (dashboard->appearances->menu)? sometimes after an upgrade you have to re assign the menu to it’s location.

    Hi,
    1) yes
    2) yes
3+4) yes until I re enabled plugins, even though the plugin for the contact form didn’t work.
As I said I disabled plugins then enabled them afterwards. It says on the site to call them plugins_disabled then change it back afterwards.

not sure what a custom menu is.

    thanks

    custom menu = dashboard->appearances->menu

so if you disable all the plugins the site is fine (except for the missing plugins?
if so, add then back one at a time to see which is causing the issue
