# Upgrading / Database Questions

 * Hi there,
 * I currently have a blog which is running on version 2.8.2, which is only partially
   active because I failed to backup the databases correctly. The wp_posts.sql file
   contains errors, and a friend is removing them for me as we speak.
 * I was wondering, if I upgrade the website, and choose a new theme and set my 
   new categories etc, once the wp_posts.sql file is restored, will I still be able
   to use all the old content?

 * I don’t know the answer to your question, but I think you would be wise to see
   if there any other backups around.
 * If you are on a web host, they likely take daily or weekly backups, including
   your databases. If you are on a corporate web server, they certainly would have
   backups.
