    Hi,

My website provider has finally given me the ability to use a later version of PHP, meaning I can now upgrade my Jigoshop to a latest version 1.17.8.

So I need to upgrade my PHP – its just a setting on PLESK control panel to choose the later version

    ***Current versions***
    Jigoshop Version: 1.9.3.1
    WordPress Version: 3.8.11
    PHP Version: 5.2.17

What order should I do this in? WordPress, PHP, Jigoshop ??????

Do I need to do anything while I change the PHP version in PLESK? Like offline the website in PLESK or disable Jigoshop in wordpress plugins ?

Any other tips apart from crossing my legs and arms and fingers – I’ll do backups…..

Thanks in advance I do look forward to the latest Jigoshop!!!!!

    cheers
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

PHP is prerequisite for all other tasks. please update it first.

Thanks, ok so this is my plan, keeping it simple.

    1. I will backup MySQL and wordpress files
    2. Disable the website in Plesk, offline it
    3. Change the PHP version
    4. Restart the website services in Plesk and test the site
    5. Upgrade Jigoshop – see questions below
    6. Upgrade WordPress

I plan to upgrade Jigoshop from the current 1.9.3.1 up to the latest. Looking back I can see many incremental versions to get to the latest 1.17.8. I did read another posting about upgrading from older Jigoshop and you recommended going through several versions. For my situation can you recommend a specific upgrade path to the latest?

Once I have my PHP version set to 5.3 I will in future apply incremental Jigoshop upgrades as soon as they are available and proven, but the PHP version issue has held me and I am sure others back on the 1.9.x versions until they either moved hosting sites to a host with later PHP available or upgraded their PHP.

Once I have Jigoshop up to date then I will also be able to upgrade WordPress to latest and keep it up to date also…..

Your help is much appreciated. I am really looking forward to the up to date Jigoshop and its fixes and features.

    Thanks
    Richard
