• Our historical society have had an account with EarthLink for years using FrontPage. We are now using FrontPage as our site program. We have decided to switch to WordPress. I have downloaded WordPress and I have begun working with the new program. We have lots of material stored at our EarthLink account. Most of it is as pdf doc and pictures. Is there a plugin or something that would allow me up upload my files stored at EarthLink into our WordPress program

The plugin “add from server” will let you add files to the WP media library. It would then be up to you to put links in the right places.

Please read the plugin’s documentation carefully.

I have uploaded “Add From Server” plugin and when I activate it I receive the error message: “This plugin requires WordPress 4.0 or greater, and PHP 5.4 or greater. You are currently running WordPress 4.7.1 and PHP 5.3.28. Please contact your website host or server administrator for more information. The plugin has been deactivated.” I contacted EarthLink and they said they plan to update. Is there another plugin with a lower PHP requirement? Or, do you have any further thoughts of something that might work?

Get a host that offers a modern version of PHP? 5.3.28 was released in December 2013. Is your organization a 501(c)(3)? If so, Dreamhost offers free basic hosting with SSL and PHP 7.

If your host cannot update PHP, then you cannot use that plugin.
