# Uploading issues

 * Hi all,
    I’ve got my blog working well but I can’t seem to get the file upload
   to work. The file will not upload into the directory i specify and if i move 
   it in manually (FTP) all i get is a red X. Now, i’m using an .htaccess file to
   prevent hotlinking to any picture on my site but i also have a section on my 
   site that shows gif’s a jpeg’s through the hotlink protection so I don’t think
   that’s it. If someone has a second could you helpe me out? [http://blog.rizzay.com](http://blog.rizzay.com)(

 * Hey all,
    So I found out that if I set my folder to 777 then the picture is visible.
   Does anyone know why I have to do that instead of 766? I don’t want to have a
   higher setting than I have to. Thanks, Mark
