 * Greetings,
 * I am having an URL issue that I can’t resolve. I’ve search liked crazy, but only
   find fixes to problems not related to mine (or suggestions that didn’t work).
 * **Problem**:
 * I have a main website, with a subdirectory holding my blog. I currently have
   my URL for the blog hosted by a different company. I want to have the URL of
   the site say the name of the URL redirect but also include the page or post name.
 * **Breakdown**:
 * Currently the site is hosted at [http://www.project-blu.com/nerd](http://www.project-blu.com/nerd)
   with the URL redirect [http://www.project-nerd.com](http://www.project-nerd.com).
   The only fixes I’ve found is the URL redirect I use (which changes the name in
   the address bar back to the project-blu address) or one that only shows project-
   nerd.com in the address bar without the “/page” or “/post” at the end.
 * Does anybody have any recommendations or knowledge on how to get my end address
   showing as [http://www.project-nerd.com/post](http://www.project-nerd.com/post)/
   page?
 * I’ve tried editing the htaccess file, I’ve tried changing the address in the
   admin area under “General Settings.” Neither have worked, and the latter actually
   caused a significant crash.
 * Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
 * Thanks,
    Iggy

 * Hey there Iggy,
 * I’m willing to bet you’re going to need to follow these instructions about [moving WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#When_Your_Domain_Name_or_URLs_Change).
 * You need to move WordPress to whatever hosting company you have the project-nerd.
   com domain hosted with. The WordPress files need to live on a server that points
   to that domain. Does that make sense?

 * David,
 * Thanks for the response.
 * That sucks if it is true, because I do not feel like paying for two separate
   hosts.
 * I appreciate the response but hope there is another resolve for this (which I’m
   beginning to think that is the only way).
 * Thanks,
    Iggy

 * Hi, I am having the same issue as [@iggytx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/iggytx/)–
   which he posted on my forum question and told he was rude for doing so…I didn’t
   think it was rude – I thought it was very helpful since we are having the exact
   same issue.
 * I came across something last night and I am wondering if it might work. If we
   install the plug-in that allows multi site (which I know is a little difficult)
   Can we then install the additional plug-in to map the domain to the desired domain?
 * [@david](https://wordpress.org/support/users/david/) – do you know if that would
   work?
 * [@iggytx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/iggytx/) I can’t imagine we are
   the only 2 wanting to do this – and I can’t believe someone doesn’t have a plug
   in or something to do it.
    Thanks, Julie

 * **[@juliepmb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/juliepmb/)**: It is impolite
   to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own and
   it causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers. Please stick to your
   own topic.

 * Hi [@esmi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/esmi/). I get that you think it
   is impolite to interrupt with another question, but this is NOT a different question…
   it is the same question and I wasn’t asking another question I was trying to
   offer a solution.
 * I am not trying to be rude or impoliet…I am trying to find a solution (which
   is what I thought these forums were for).
 * Sometimes working together is much easier than working alone.

 * Are you using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted
   by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original
   poster? No? Then please stick to your own topic.

 * Iggy,
 * As far as I know – that’s the best, most direct way.
 * As far as paying for two host – can’t you just host both sites with one host?

 * **[@david](https://wordpress.org/support/users/david/):** Yes I can, it’s just
   a matter of I did a multi-year deal ahead on the “main” site and the blog URL
   was purchased for multiple years as well, just this year. So either way I will
   be out additional funds. Thank you very much though for your responses.
 * **[@juliepmb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/juliepmb/):** Feel more than
   welcome to share your experience here. Even though it’s not the same host (and
   it actually might be), the solution for both of us in the end will more than
   likely be the same.
 * Also, I had a multi-site wordpress blog running and ran into more issues than
   I care to list. I had the same URL issues at the beginning, but to be honest,
   I never dug as deep as I am now. I have (just in the past month), opted to run
   my blogs with separate wordpress installs, and having the crew on my site deal
   with separate logins.

 * Thanks,
    Iggy
