 * All newly registered members have “Level 10” privileges, and has access to the
admin panel. Additionally, I can’t edit the users’ level using these “+” and “-”
buttons, which many has refered to. They don’t exist. Why?

 * I hope someone can explain why everyone registering has level 10 privileges,
but the plus and minus buttons are microscopicly small next to the level number.
You’ll see a little + and – on either side that I needed a magnifier to see.
   They should be there.

 * Can’t answer why the level 10 privilege, as my members are registering at Level
   0. Only when I click on Promote, and the member gets moved from Registered Users
to the Authors section of the Admin Panel, do I see the + and – choices.

 * Just a note, in admin, Options, Writing, I’ve got it set so Newly Registered
   Members Cannot Write Articles.

 * I’m still confused … There are no “+”- and “-“-buttons. I have magnified the
browser window to get a closer look, but there is nothing there.
 * The standard level 10 setting for new users confuses me the most!

 * How odd. When i changed the setting “Newly registered members” from “cannot write
articles” to “May submit drafts for review”, the newly registered members will
have privileges at “level 1”. I can also change this level in the admin panel.
   Why?
 * This actually fix my problem, but now I want to get rid of my self-created test
users. How can I do this, when “level adjustment” is disabled? If you suggest
to do it manually in phpmyadmin, please give me the exact locations and tell
me exactly what to do, since I’m not familiar with these databases.

 * If you demote an Author to Registered User you can delete that user.

 * I’m aware of that, mhancook, but how does that help me when I can’t change those
member’s level? As I said before, the “+” and “-“-buttons didn’t appear in the
   user administration panel.

 * make sure that you’re logged in with a high enough user level (with admin username)
   in order to change.

 * I’m fairly sure you can’t delete or demote a Level 10 user, even if you are also
a Level 10 user. You’ll have to log in as the user you want to demote, and have
   them demote themselves.

 * The users can’t demote themselves. I’ve logged them in and tried, without finding
the “+” and “-” buttons. So, how do I delete these users then? Can somebody explain
to me how I can do it manually?
 * And by the way, the issue with new users getting administrator priveleges is
a serious security bug. Why am I the only one experiencing this?

 * if you’re really intent on deleting these users, you can just use phpmyadmin,
goto wp_users, and just delete their names out from there. Be careful not to
delete any user you want, and if you’re unsure of what you’re doing backup the
   database first.
