    Hi!

Just a general question. Recently synced all products and it seems like all customers that ordered are also synced to the newsletter.

Is there a way to debug this? Because I want to be absolutely sure that the plugin doesn’t include users to the list who have not ticked the opt-in box and accepted newsletters.

Hi @emilepukander, thanks for reaching out. On initial sync, there is a step in the connection wizard that gives you the option to auto-subscribe the existing customers. It sounds like that option was selected on the original setup of the plugin, thus the data you’re seeing in your Mailchimp Audience.

Going forward, you can toggle how the checkbox displays at checkout as shown in this screenshot: https://a.cl.ly/9Zu8PXq0.

In addition, you can check each customer’s subscriber preference when they checked out (after the plugin is installed) by viewing the custom fields. There, you’ll see either a 0 or 1 next to the mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed custom field name – 0 indicating an opt-out, and a 1 for those who opted in to your newsletter.

Hope that helps, let us know if you need anything else!

Thank you for the answer! I will look at the debugger. One last thing. When the consent has been placed on the check-out page. Ticking the box will change the user’s status to transactional, not subscribed. Can this be changed to subscribe?
