# Using 301 Redirect

 * Hi there,
 * About a year ago I made a site before I really understood that page URLs can 
   be very useful in SEO. Now many page URLs I have are also long and not great.
   
   The thing is I also have many other smaller sites that have links to these long,
   URL pages.
 * Having discovered 301 Redirect on Yoast I was wondering…
 * To use 301 Redirect I guess I create a new page with the shortened SEO friendly
   URL and redirect my old page to this. Tried on just one page and all works great.
 * Am I right in thinking I will then noindex the old page with the long URL so 
   it stops being searched?
    I guess also I will always have to keep the old page
   as this has the original link and the 301 Redirect?
 * If this is the case I’ll have loads of pages that have 301 Redirect active and
   wonder if this is really worth the bother 🙂
 * Any thoughts on this would be great 🙂
