# Using existing DB

 * Hello,
    I was wondering if it is possible for me to use an MySQL database I have
   for my current website and use it for a new wordpress website. What is the best
   approach? Thank you, Regards, PH

 * You can do that; just be sure to use database table names in wp-config.php that
   are different than any tables in the exisiting database. See [https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#table_prefix](https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#table_prefix)

 * Thanks! I will give it a look.
    Actually my case is a bit more tricky. I have
   a website (www.hificlube.net) that is .net with MSSQL but I want to change the
   whole site since I am having problems with my current CMS (Umbraco) so I was 
   thinking of setting up a wordpress test site, try to migrate my MsSQL DB to a
   MySQL test DB, set it all up with wordpress and see if it’s good. Probably am
   aming a bit over but… that’s what I have in mind.
