 * Hey
 * I’m in the process of creating a website, and using WordPress for the first time.
On said website, I will have a lot of guides (in the long run, well over 1000
guides), and they will each be on their seperate page, so using pages for the
guides are the natural choice. But lately, while reading different blogs and
websites about WordPress, I get the impression that most people are just using
   posts when posting articles/guides/whatever.
 * So I’m starting to wonder, what should I use? Is there any important differences
   between the two?
 * I’m currently reading up on the Pretty Permalinks, and one blog suggested to
use `/%category%/%postname%/` as a custom structure. How will URLs for pages
look when I have chosen `/%postname%/`?
 * Any help is appreciated =)

 * The BIG difference between pages and posts is that posts are automatically part
of your RSS feed. The great feature of WP is that it creates this feed for you.
Users who end up following your RSS may want to know when you post a new guide.
That is the beauty of WP, users would know instantly of new posts if they were
   following [your RSS feed](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS).
 * Use Pages for more “set in stone” content.(eg: about us, contact, etc.) The stuff
users won’t need to be updated on or does not hold viable content to them keeping
   up with your latest content.
 * You can play around with the different permalink structures and see how they
look, but I recommend settling on one soon. If users start to follow your blog,
they may bookmark a page. If you change your permalink structure in a few months,
those users would have invalid links to their bookmarked page on your site.

 * Thanks, that’s very helpful! I’ll have to redo some of my pages and make posts
   instead now 😛
 * Switching permalinks wont be a problem yet, since my blog is closed to the public
   for the time being.
