• Hi new WP developer here,

I have a question about plugins and developing in a staging environment for clients. A client needs a form that is on her current site to also be on the new site after migrating. However, to build the form on the staging environment I need access to the Pro version of the plugin. She has it already and the staging env only has the free version. I have a couple questions about this problem:

    1. The plugin I am using is Bookly. As far as I can tell it’s a one time purchase and it does not have a certain number of activations like some plugins. Even if I migrated now, that would just clear her site and current plug in set up, right? It’s not like migrating would give me access to her plug ins.

    2) In general, how do you go about this problem when working for clients especially when they already paid for the plugin? Why would they pay for it again just for you to rebuilt something they already have, just on a staging environment?

The answer to both questions depends on the specific commercial plug-ins. As you have already noticed, each has its own licensing scheme. Some offer support for development environments (such as WPML), others do not. In addition, each plugin has its own way of checking the validity of the licence. Some check the domain, some only the licence key. Therefore, there are no general answers to your questions. If you have questions about Bookly, contact their support: https://support.booking-wp-plugin.com/hc/en-us – questions about commercial plugins are not allowed here in the forum.
