Version 2.7.0
-
Hello everyone –
I just released version 2.7.0. The big change with this release is that the Gutenberg block now has a preview. It attempts to display the same aspect ratio as the front end, but it could be a different size on the back end. There is no attempt to make the slideshow work; it’s just a preview so you can know that you picked the right one and get some sense of how it would look when published. I appreciate feedback.
On the bug front, I didn’t notice until after releasing version 2.6.0 that the text styling controls weren’t showing on new text slides until after the slideshow was saved. Big miss on my part. It was tougher to add feature than I expected but it should be working correctly now.
Lastly, I included some recommendations from the WP team. The Block API is now set to 3.0. There were no code changes associated with that (and I’m not really sure why it matters, to be honest) but they said it should be bumped up. The impact of that is WP 6.3 is now the minimum supported version. Please let me know if you’re impacted and we can try to figure something out. Also, I’ve started implementing more of the code style recommendations from Plugin Check (a developer plugin from the WP company that is supposed to look out for potential issues, but mostly it’s all nitpicking). There are a lot of those recommendations and they aren’t critical so I’ll probably spread that work out over several releases.
This will probably be the last version for a while unless something serious happens. It’s almost summer and I intend to be outside, not sitting in front my computer. 🙂
