Title: Version 22.7 json error Last modified: May 25, 2024 --- # Version 22.7 json error * Resolved [havemaskwilltravel](https://wordpress.org/support/users/havemaskwilltravel/) * (@havemaskwilltravel) * [2 years ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/version-22-7-json-error/) * I’ve installed Yoast SEO 22.7 and Yoast SEO Premium 22.7 but when I try to publish my homepage, I’m getting “Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response”. When I deactivate all plugins except Yoast SEO 22.7 I’m still getting the error. WP is up to date. When I deactivate Yoast SEO 22.7 as well, I can publish my homepage. I’ve now deactivated both plugins and installed Yoast SEO 22.8-RC4 ( I think it’s a beta version) and I have no errors. It looks like custom WP shortcode combined with Yoast is causing the JSON response: when I remove the shortcode from my homepage, the page is published with no error. When I activate Yoast SEO, I can ONLY publish my page with no JSON error if the custom WP shortcode I’ve mentioned, is removed first. The error within the page/post editor can be related to issues like site’s permalinks. To resolve this, can you please perform the following steps: 1. In WordPress, go to **WordPress dashboard** > **Settings > Permalinks** 2. I have no idea why.
