 * I have a dev site (which will probably go away soon so no use in posting a link).
   There are 2 videos on the site and they take way too long to load. I’m using 
   the Simple Flash Video plugin and the files are mp4 format. One file is 22MB 
   and the other is currently 180MB. Obviously smaller files would help but I was
   wondering if there is a way to write a body onload preload script that would 
   start downloading the videos as soon as someone arrives at the site. Thanks for
   any ideas.

 * NO ONE appreciates a 100MB preloading when visiting a site, even a site I visited
   before; even if I want to watch videos

 * They are working on re-compressing the files to make them smaller. I’m wondering
   if there is a way to make them initially load faster aside from that. Right now
   even the smaller of the two, which is 22MB takes literally a couple of minutes
   to start. Nobody is going to sit there that long. Once they start they play fine
   but they take way too long to start. You can see the 22MB one here (if you want
   to see how long it takes to start)…

 * Smaller will not mean faster.
 * I suspect a slow codec was used to encode it.
 * So it has to load a LOT of video before it can start.
 * You/they are better of trying different codecs;
 * search google `slow mp4 startup video`
