View Page button missing, so clicking update lots but now there’s a problem

    Development Version (5.3.3-alpha-47419)

    The view page button is missing from the edit page or post area now. And as you probably know when we update we get the view page link at the bottom right in a popup which is kind of cool. The big problem is I didn’t think about revisions and now I have hundreds as I was building a test site. I wanted to keep the real revisions but I guess now it’s gonna be a really big pain to remove the ones I don’t need now.

    Can you please put back the view page/post link urgently in the top bar so we don’t have the triple click each time just to view the pages or posts updated if we don’t use the popup.

    No one is working on 5.3.3-alphaxxx. Can you try your scenario with the latest 5.4 Release Candidate and see if it’s still a problem?

    I’m on Development Version (5.4-RC2-47447) and it’s still a problem.

    Can you try it with Health Check plugin in Troubleshoot mode, which can disable all plugins for your user only, to see if it is core or a plugin? (or try your scenario on a clean installation?)

    I’ll check everything again on a fresh copy tonight and try that plugin as well with the standard plugins I use. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. This SARS-CoV-2 thing is making life a bit difficult over here.

    I did what you said but the top plus mark is still missing between the permalink and first block after you add one. Guess that’s a real bug.

    The Gutenberg plugin (7.7.1) made by the Gutenberg team was blocking the view page button on the top right. It adds a dropdown named view, and a button named block patterns. How to I move this support thread to them?

    There are a couple things here.

    1. Preview button is still there, so your edits can be checked. That said, it’ll auto-save so you’ll still get a draft in your revisions :/

    2. The view post link can be found under the PERMALINK sidebar, just below the X Revisions. Click to open it and you’ll see a view link.

    Your revisions are always going to increase since posts are auto-saved after 30 seconds anyway. So that’s not really going to solve your ultimate problem :/
