# Visual Editor Insert/Edit Link not working

 * I’m new to WordPress, but for the life of me I can’t get the Inset/Edit Link 
   to do anything in the visual editor.
    I have deactivated all my plugins. Set 
   my theme back to TwentyFourteen. I have followed this [ article ](http://wptavern.com/common-issues-and-troubleshooting-wordpress-3-9)
   Tried a different browser Chrome and Safari on the local machine – Chrome on 
   a remote machine. Enabled Script_Debug (which assume is working as there is an
   entry in the javascript console “JQMIGRATE: Logging is active”) I’ve also checked
   the console and can’t find any errors. The only thing I can find is if I drill
   down through the page, I’ve found the following html relating to the button:

 * I can’t link to the site as it’s a local install (and in the admin side of it).
 * Is this just something that is disabled now or am I missing something?

 * OK – Complete user error!!!
    Just been searching another forum and I see that
   you have to highlight the text you want to use for your link! Not terribly intuitive,
   but at least I have the solution now.
