Visual Editor isn’t working

    Hi, all. I’m new here, but I’ve been using WordPress for years. I haven’t posted anything for several months, but everything was working fine last time I did.

    Now the visual editor… just isn’t there. No buttons at the top, and worse, text does not show up in the box. If I Ctrl-A and highlight the box contents, I can see there is text; but evidently the text is white. With no buttons, I can’t change text color. I’ve gone through what looks appropriate in the dashboard settings (like background and font colors) and everything is fine there.

    What can I do?

    At this point, I’m going to run screaming into the other room and pound sand for a while. This is the third insoluble (by me) tech problem I’ve been clobbered with this morning and I’ve had about all I can deal with.

    Do you have any errors in your browser’s Javascript console, immediately after you load the editing page?

    Hi,
    I’ve got that problem once and there was nothing to do with the browser.
    The solution was very simple:
    Go to USERS
    EDIT your profile
    The first raw Visual Editor (Disable Visual Editor When Writing) should be UNCHECKED.

    Unfortunately, I don’t get any browser errors and the “disable” box is already unchecked.

    I can see text in the headline box; it’s black, as it should be. The text is still invisible (but there in white) in the big text box and there still are no editing buttons at the top of the box. When I highlight the text, I can see it’s in a Courier-style typeface rather than the TNR I usually use.

    Oh, I do have another odd thing happening. I’ve got 600-some posts, but when I go to the dashboard it asks if I want to start my first post and has some “get started” info as if it thinks I’ve never written anything.

    Any other ideas? @.@

    Huzzah! It’s magically corrected itself this a.m. I’m not questioning the mechanism; just hoping it doesn’t recur. 🙂
