Have you tried clearing your browser and any site caching on the computer where it does not show up?
Yes.
I was using FireFox (on both computers), and I cleared *everything* on the one that wasn’t working. No joy.
So I tried switching to the MS virus magnet (IE), and cleared everything there, too. No joy.
So, I’m guessing that it *has* to be something on the laptop that different from the desktop system that works properly. But I’m at a loss. I can see the HTML view in the editor, but not the Visual view. Could be worse, I suppose, but it bothers me that I don’t don’t why this is happening.
Definitely seems weird. Are you logged in as the same user on both machines?
Just installed Chrome browser on the laptop. Same result.
Oh, yes, I’m definitely signed in as the same user. Made sure I was signed out on the other machine, too.
I have stumbled across another clue. When I got home, and connected to my home WiFi, the tabs re-appeared, and I could edit normally.
The difference? When I had the disappearing tab problem, I was tethered to my Android phone. Which peaked out at about 5 Mbps.
So, I now have a “solution” or rather, a workaround. I’m still utterly mystified by this, and I really hate it when something like that happens and I don’t understand why.
I would love for somebody to explain that. Regardless of whether I get an understanding of this, I’ll mark this resolved in a day or two.
Hmmmm… just had a thought… Does WP serve up a different site on mobile devices? I *did* have my tether set to “stealth” mode. In stealth mode, the phone generates all http requests for a mobile device, which can lead to strange behavior in some applications.
I think that might actually explain what was happening. I’ll go ahead and mark this one resolved.
