 * I was trying to insert the html code for a banner ad into either a page or post
on my site. I noticed that when I clicked edit to do this that one of the 2 tabs
at the top of my page/post that used to say html now says text. How can I switch
   it back to say html?
 * Also how can I install a banner in the body of a page instead of only in pages
   and posts?

 * The HTML tab was changed to “text” in [WP3.5](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-35-master-list?replies=4)
 * Where are you trying to put the banner? Do you want it on every page or just
   one?

 * Thanks for the info on that about the 3.5 version.
This is all new to me. I
would like to put a couple small thumbnail banners along the left side of my
home page and likely on each subsequent page as well. That being said, I just
signed up as an affiliate with Expedia.com and the problem there is that they’re
asking questions only an experienced webmaster would likely know. I guess that’s
my cross to bear. I’ll contact their support staff later. I know how to copy
the html code and insert it in between paragraphs of text, but I would like to
insert the thumbnails in the blank areas on the left of my page. Have a look
   at my site: [http://www.myonlinetravelreview.com](http://www.myonlinetravelreview.com).
   Thanks

 * Sounds like you might need a sidebar on that side of the page. You can then add
widgets to put the HTML into.
 * Depending on the theme options and templates, you might need to make a custom
   template: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Creating_Your_Own_Page_Templates](http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Creating_Your_Own_Page_Templates)
 * Alternatively, you could find another theme that has sidebars on both sides and
   has widgets already available.
