   Appearance -> Menus. Do you have any broken Menu items there or any Menu locations?

 * I deleted all the menus and I created a new one but it has not resolved anything.

 * I found a solution.
 * I just had to install a Blocksy starter theme, see if the customization page 
   worked – and it did – then I removed it.

   the started site, the process also imported fresh menus on top of your broken
   ones, which got the problem fixed in itself.
