    Hi mckingley,

    I’m sorry that you were annoyed by the request on the settings page which asks users who like UpdraftPlus to give it a positive review. The presence of those words isn’t affected by whether someone actually reviews or not, though – you’ll still find them there. (They are not present in the Premium version, or if you purchase the $10 “no adverts” extension).

    Positive reviews help attract more people to UpdraftPlus, which in turn (when some of them upgrade) helps us to fund the development of the plugin for everyone. Similarly, negative reviews have the reverse effect, driving potential users away.

    I suppose you like UpdraftPlus enough to use it as your preferred backup solution. If you were able to give it a positive review to express your appreciation for it and for the work we’ve invested in being able to make a fully-functional free version available, then we’d be grateful. If you feel that the value of our work is nullified by the presence of words asking for positive reviews, then, of course we cannot object and appreciate that that is how you feel.
