New products aren’t syncing to Square upon publishing, returning the following error for wc_square_job_runner function:

Hourly syncs aren’t showing any errors, but yet these new products aren’t appearing in Square from Woocommerce.

I understand that new products aren’t syncing to Square upon creation from your WooCommerce store.

Can you please confirm if this is happening to new products only? Or, for all products synced to Square?

Yes, it’s only on new products that I can tell. I published several products on October 30, which synced fine. Then, I deleted one new product in WooCommerce that I realized was a duplicate, and since then, no other new products are making it to Square.

The Square update section has indicated that it’s syncing for days, and you can see in this screenshot that it hasn’t actually upstreamed anything since October 30. https://app.screencast.com/5zEFRfyfkHmfz

There are no recent fatal error logs.

wc_square_background_sync_cron continues to say “Complete,” but wc_square_job_runner continues to say “Failed” as you can see in this screenshot: https://app.screencast.com/xdF9PtAwtv9oL

I’ve gone through the troubleshooting guide already, and checked on those possible solutions, but they don’t apply to me.

Hi @douglashaugen,

Usually, a conflicting plugin or theme installed on the site is to blame for problems like these. In order to troubleshoot this further, would you mind taking the following steps?

1. Temporarily switch to one of our default themes, such as Storefront to ensure that this isn’t a theme compatibility issue. Once you switch themes, can you check and see if everything functions as expected?

2. If not, we also recommend deactivating all plugins except for WooCommerce and Square to see if this resolves the issue at that point. If it does, then you would need to activate each plugin, one at a time, to see if you could find the conflicting extension or plugin.

3. Disable caching and optimization plugins on your hosting as well

Before making any changes, backup your site’s content and database. You might even replicate the site for testing reasons if you don’t want to disrupt the actual site.

I have changed the theme from Avada to WordPress Twenty Twenty-Three. I have deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce and WooCommerce Square. I have purged the Cloudflare cache. I have increased the max_execution_time to 2500 seconds. Still, I’m getting failures on wc_square_job_runner.

I have also reverted back to PHP 7.4 and back to 8.0. The Update section of Square plugins settings still says Syncing now, but shows nothing has synced since October 30, even though I continue to add products since then.

WooCommerce is the system of record in sync settings.

Should I disconnect WooCommerce from Square, and then connect again? Is there risk of this causing duplicates in either WooCommerce or Square?

From the sheer number of failed actions, the issue appears to be elsewhere.

As a next step, I’d recommend installing WP Crontrol, for peeking a little further into this.

Furthermore, I’d suggest replacing WP Cron with a real Cron job, as detailed here.
